On Sunday, I went for the PAYM Networking Mixer on Working Abroad with Renee at The Loft Cafe. It was my first time attending one of these PAYM Networking Mixer events, and it turned out better than expected! I enjoyed the casual setting over which we could get to interact and talk to different people who are at different stages of their life and to find out more about their careers etc. Would definitely attend the other events if they are planning any of such events in future! :)

On Monday, I went for a seminar organised by CFA Singapore called "Who are you? Understanding your personality style for career development". I went alone, and I'm glad it turned out okay, not awkward or anything as I managed to start conversations with random people whom I met there. The seminar was more of an interactive style and it got us thinking on what is our personality and working style, and what our co-workers/bosses personality and working styles are. There are 4 main working styles - drivers, amiable, analytical and expressor. So for example, if you have an analytical boss, you need to give the person lots of data, back up all your work with statistics etc. Whereas on the other hand, if you have an expressor boss, you need to show your boss the big picture and cut down on all the details. I think the information given during the seminar isn't new to us, just that we aren't accustomed to think about such things on a day-to-day basis. So actually taking time off to think about how ours and others personality styles are like, we can actually interact and work with others much better and efficiently. I enjoyed the seminar because I think it could be something that I can apply to my work relationships with others.
