From Nuwara Eliya, we headed to Delhousie, which is our base to climb Adam's Peak. There are 2 main routes to climb Adam's Peak, one from Delhousie and the other from Ratnapura.

How we got from Nuwara Eliya to Delhousie

We also decided to climb Adam's Peak in the afternoon, instead of at night, due to safety reasons. We didn't want to be out at 2 a.m. as it might not be safe for 2 girls to be alone in such a seculeded place at such an unearthly time! Most people actually start to climb Adam's Peak at about 230 a.m. so that they would make it just in time for the sunrise at the peak. However, I think we made a right choice to climb in the afternoon as we are better able to appreciate the scenery and views along the way up!

BEFORE: At the base of Adam's Peak before attempting the climb

I totally overpacked for the hike up! I was expecting it to be cold so I wore jeans and carried a cardigan as well. I even brought an umbrella (in case it rains) and I stocked up on SUPER ALOT of bananas and water. Everyone who heard that we are going to climb Adam's Peak was telling us that we need to be prepared for the tiring hike up etc etc. I thought that it would be a crazy hike up, but in the end, I felt that it's actually an easy climb! It's just tiring (because you got to walk up approximately 5500 steps). But the thing is, the steps are easy to climb! It's wide and the path is so obvious, you wouldn't get lost. I don't really understand why people would actually hire a guide for this? Haha, anyway, I was overly prepared for the hike but being over prepared is better than under prepared I guess!

Took off my jeans because it was too hot and my jeans kept sliding down

Crawling up Adam's Peak HAHA

We took 3 hours to hike to the top which is the usual timing that most people take! I spend most of the time just taking random photos and doing stupid pose like pretending to be crawling up the steps HAHAHA. It could probably be done in a much shorter time, maybe 2.5 hours?

When we reached the peak, the temple there was closed probably because this is the off-season. This place is considered sacred as it is believed to have the footprint of Buddha / Adam / Shiva - depending on which religion you belong to and what you believe in

View from the top

AFTER: Took another photo at the same sign after conquering Adam's Peak! Got sunburnt on my face!

Surprisingly, I didn't really get much muscle ache after the climb. It ached a little but not much! It was a good workout though HAHAHA.
