Horton Plains burnt a hole in my pocket

We arrived at Nuwara Eliya yesterday from Arugam Bay! It was another usual crazy bus journey which took us many hours! I have gotten used to super duper long bus journeys that just go on and on forever!

How we got from Arugam Bay to Nuwara Eliya:

Tuktuk from Arugam Bay to Pottuvil

Bus from Pottuvil to Monaragala

Bus from Monaragala to Wellawaya

Bus from Wellawaya to Bandarawela

Bus from Bandarawela to Welimada

Bus from Welimada to Nuwara Eliya

Anyway, so we woke up at 5 a.m. today as we wanted to get to Horton Plains early. Instead of taking a tuktuk from Nuwara Eliya to Horton Plains directly, we decided to take the 0630 bus from Nuwara Eliya Bus Station to Pattipola and get a tuktuk from there instead. A tutuk from Nuwara ELiya to Horton Plains would cost around 3500 rupees, but we managed to get the tuktuk at 1800 rupees from Pattipola up to Horton Plains. It could probably have been cheaper as well!

When we were heading up to Horton Plains on the tuktuk, we were thinking damn, it's gonna be a waste of our money as the weather was horrible! It was sooooo misty and we couldn't see anything at all! You can hardly even see the road in front of you!

However, and thankfully, the mist starting clearing out bit by bit. We were then able to appreciate the beauty of Horton Plains even more as we were just thankful the mist cleared out and it was not a wasted trip! The entire trek is 9km and it's a loop trail. Haha, we took the path on the right (meaning anti-clockwise direction) and it ended up to be a much easier path! If you take the path on the left, you would have to walk uphill for quite a long part of the journey. Haha, oh wells, good exercise for those people who took the left path I guess :P

Anyway, so there are 3 main attractions in this trail! For us, it was Bakers' Falls, World's End and Mini World's End, but if you take the other direction, it would be in the opposite order. Yay, we had good weather when we were at Bakers' Falls and World's End but when we reached Mini World's End, it started raining quite heavily!
