In Sri Lanka, most tourists would visit the Cultural Triangle which consists of Anuradhapura, Sigiriya, Dambulla, Kandy and Polonnaruwa. Today, we visited Polonnaruwa which marks our completion of exploring the cultural triangle. We have already visited the rest of the places within the cultural triangles on the other weekends.

Polonnaruwa is the second most ancient of Sri Lanka's kingdoms. The ancient city of Polonnaruwa is also declared as a UNESCO Heritage Site. Similar to Anuradhapura, we rented a bicycle for the day as it would allow us to explore the place at our own pace. I really like how flexible our schedule is when we explore places on bicycles!

Lotus Pond - We were expecting to see a real pond but it ended up to be a "dried-up pond" in the shape of a lotus.

Took a direct bus back from Polonnaruwa to Coombo. The bus left Polonnaruwa at around 3pm and we reached Colombo at 930pm. By the time we got back to Misuki Plaza, it was already 11pm. It was a super tiring bus ride. At least we had a seat throughout the bus ride, if not we would have died of exhaustion.
