Arrived at Galle Fort in the afternoon. Galle Fort has a really different atmosphere, with different architecture and street names. It almost feels like we're out of Sri Lanka.

We had lunch at Crepe-ology where I had the best beef burrito I can possibly find in Sri Lanka! I felt really satisfied after eating it! :)

One of the really typical "scams" in Sri Lanka is that someone would come up to you and start a conversation about how the President / Prime Minster would be coming to this area tomorrow and that all the fruits and vegetable market would be closed. So on our way back to our hostel at Galle Fort, a man came up to us and said this to us. We actually believed him and we decided to check out the market area as he claimed it was really worth visiting. I'm usually rather skepitcal of "scams" as I experienced a lot of similar stuff in China. However, this guy was different. He kept saying "I don't want your money, I am not a tour guide". Well, I never had someone who tries to scam my money and constantly say "I don't want your money". So, I thought he geninuely wanted to just explain more of Sri Lanka's culture to us. But anyway, he ended up following us to the market and started to ask us to buy this and that. When we insisted we have nothing we want to buy, he asked us to buy milk for his daughter/son from the shop.
Honestly, I didn't feel pissed or anything when I found out he "had a motive" in bringing us there. Somehow, I feel really sad for these people because I know that no one wants to live such a life and they are driven a lot by tough circumstances. Sri Lanka has experienced many years of civil war and was also affected by the tsunami. Hence, many of these people live really poorly and I know they have no choice but to "cheat" tourists of their money in order to survive or provide for the family. I also know how fortunate I am to be able to live in Singapore and I really hope that one day I would be able to contribute something back to society, be it in Singapore or in other countries!
