1st day of 2015 in Taitung
After a tiring countdown at Kaohsiung Dream Mall the previous night, I woke up early and took the train to Taitung.
First thing on the itinerary was to go to Luye Gaotai 鹿野高台. They actually have paragliding here which I have been wanting to do ever since coming to Taiwan! Wanted to do it in September when my parents were in Taiwan, but the weather did not permit us to do so. However, there was no one paragliding at Luye Gaotai 鹿野高台. All I saw was a sign stating the telephone number to call if we want to paraglide. At that point in time, I didn't really had the desire or urge to try it out. It also seemed, perhaps a little dangerous as paragliding is not really regulated in Taiwan and safety procedures may not be adequate.

So instead of paragliding, I did something else... Gliding down the slope :P Haha! Basically, you sit in this kiddy cart and slide down the slope!
After that, I headed to 關山親水公園 where I rode a bicycle around the park! It was a nice ride but really cold. This explains why I'm wrapped up like a dumpling and my hands are stucked in my pocket in all the photos. Didn't want to take them out of my pockets at all.
I also tried the famous 池上便當 which is damn freaking good! I always thought packet lunches in boxes would taste bad but this lunch box tasted awesome!!! (No photos of it though)
Lastly, headed to 伯郎大道 where there is a tree named after Takeshi Kaneshiro.The tree is named after the actor Takeshi Kaneshiro, as he filmed a commercial there before. However, this tree was uprooted during Typhoon Matmo.
